But, now that you’re older, you might find yourself looking for something more terrifying than this 1978 classic—something that may actually give you nightmares. What are the best scary movies to watch on Halloween? This is a pretty debatable topic, but we’re going to throw our witches hat in the ring. So let’s get right to it and dish out our thoughts on the topic. Besides what could be more fun than watching scary movies and eating candy when it’s dark outside, on Halloween? Here are our suggestions for the best movies to watch this Halloween, that are guaranteed to put chills down your spine. First off, is Paranormal activity that came out in 2007. Its re-watchability is low, but that first viewing will make you a believer in spirits and demons. Next on the list is The Descent. Holy smokes is this film terrifying. Prepare yourself for a monster movie that shovels on claustrophobia at every turn. Last on the, “I don’t want to sleep tonight”, list are both of the movies titled, The Thing. Both the original 1982 and 2011 versions have a lot to offer. Bring an extra blanket to the couch though, because these scary movies take place in frozen tundra void of hope, and full of screams.

You may have thought that last one deserved to be higher up on the list, but given that it’s for the younger audience we thought it deserved to get bumped.
